Sea Watch Foundation - National Whale and Dolphin Watch 2022 :

Ecosystem Collage Workshop

Register for free here.

About: Join artist Jennifer Argo from Mapping Ocean Change through Art for an online ecosystem collage workshop as part of Sea Watch Foundation's National Whale and Dolphin Watch 2022.

We will create ecosystem collages based on the food chain and migration route connections of marine species between the UK and the Arctic, and discuss climate-driven changes to marine ecosystems.

You can find information about ecosystem connections between the Uk and the Arctic, and ocean phenomenon here for inspiration.

What you'll need:

Paper collage:

  • Paper or card (recycled card would work well too, i.e.: the inside of cereal boxes or other recycled packaging) if you would like to create a collage by hand.

  • Images of sea life, seascapes and Arctic environments - ideally marine life that can be found around the coast of the UK, in the North Atlantic and in the Arctic Ocean. (You can find these in newspapers, old National Geographic and nature magazines in charity shops.)

  • Text (from newspapers or magazines if you would like to include text).

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Pencils, paint, a rubber, a sharpener or any other chosen media if you would like to add other mediums.

Digital Collage:

  • A phone, laptop, ipad or computer if you would like to create a digital collage.

  • A drawing or collage app on a phone, or Photoshop or similar software on a laptop or computer.
